Round table «Northern Competencies: Can the North compete with the South?» will take place on May 14, 2010 in the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences (KarRC of RAS) in Petrozavodsk within the framework of The International Summer School in Karelia 2010 (ISSK’10) “Changing Geopolitics and International Relations in the North” organized by the Petrozavodsk State University and four Finnish Univeristies.
The themes discussed at the workshop were:
- Peculiarities of economic development and competitive capacity of northern regions and remote cities
- Postindustrial transformation and modernization of the economy in the North
- New opportunities for northern countries & regions in the knowledge economy
- Possibilities for
cross-border economic cooperation between northern regions
