Study tour within NordCompostEd project

On October, 25 – 27 the study tour for NordCompostEd project partners and target audiences was held.

Representatives of Ecological movement 42, Arkhangelsk, Regional Public Children Ecological Movement «Green Planet», Kaliningrad, Centre for Ecological initiatives «Eiva», the Association of «green» universities of Russia, the volunteer movement «Green Crew», Eco-site «Green cat», Zelenogradsk, the project « ECOMOBIL» Arkhangelsk, and LLC «AVTOSPETSTRANS» Petrozavodsk were invited to participate

The tour programme started on October, 26 with the visit to the GAIA RU office - the official representative of the South Korean company GAIA, the recognized international leader in the production of equipment for organic waste processing. The participants were introduced to the concept of local food waste processing (recuperation) with GAIA technology. The visit to the test site – the hotel, where the equipment is installed was the continuation of the event.

Then the participants visited the biotech company «EVOBIOS», which is engaged in the development and production of equipment for complex organic waste processing. The results of such processing are biogas (an alternative, environmentally friendly energy source) and organic fertilizers.

The first day of the educational trip ended with a seeing the Garden on Karpovka - a site for urban gardening and a meeting with the volunteers of the project «Organic is not waste». During the meeting, the participants discussed the current waste issues, eco-volunteering and options for collecting and processing organic waste in urban areas.

On October, 27 the excursion to Museum «PRO Musor» was organized. The exposition demonstrates all stages waste management technological cycle: from the formation to the products made of secondary resources.
