Call for participation in the 4th International Conference “Innovative and Safe Cooperation in the Barents Euro-Arctic Region” in Petrozavodsk May 22–24, 2014

Conference thematic areas:
- Kirkenes Declaration II: from contacts to innovative contracts
- The secure Arctic and BEAC
- Issues of sovereignty in the Arctic and the Barents Euro-Arctic Region
- Priorities for scientific cooperation and cooperation in higher education in the Barents Euro-
Arctic Region


The conference shall be held in Petrozavodsk at KarRC RAS on May 22-24, 2014 with
support from the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russian
Academy of Natural Sciences, Russian Hi-Tech Foundation, Russian Znanie (Knowledge)
Society, and the International and Norwegian Barents Secretariats.
The conference shall gather experts and researchers from Russia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, as
well as other countries.

You are invited to take part in the conference and make a presentation.

The conference organizers undertake to provide transfers within Petrozavodsk, print and circulate handouts and reference materials, arrange for interpretation of presentations.
Please inform the Organizing Committee of your intention to participate, and submit the following information before April 12, 2014:
- names (last, first, middle);
- passport info;
- DOB;
- affiliation and position;
- scientific degree and title;
- subject of the presentation, and the technical facilities you will need.

Simultaneously with the Conference the International Summer School “Sovereignty in the Barents Euro-Arctic Region” will take place at the Petrozavodsk State University (PetrSU) on May 19-25, 2014. The School is organized by the Aleksanteri Institute at the University of Helsinki, the University of Lapland and PetrSU within the project “Establishing the EU Centre in the Barents Region of Russia” co-financed by the European Union.

On May 23, 2014 the 4th International Conference “Innovative and Safe Cooperation in the Barents Euro-Arctic Region” has scheduled to hold a session jointly with the PetrSU International Summer School to discuss political, economic and social aspects of sovereignty in the Barents Euro-Arctic Region.
