This time the regular session of The Arctic Summer College held on July 30, 2015 was devoted to regional cooperation and security. The reporters of the webinar were Andreas Østhagen, Research Fellow at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies (IFS) and Igor Shevchuk, Director of NP “North-Center”. After presentations participants discussed topical issues of Arctic security in terms of international and regional dimensions.
The Arctic Summer College creates a network of experts that are brought together for 8 weeks in a series of webinars to discuss and share their knowledge about urgent issues of Arctic development. The main topics in 2015 were: the Arctic Council Chairmanship, Arctic Energy, Climate Change Adaptation, Arctic Shipping, Regional Cooperation and Security, Indigenous Actors, etc.
The Arctic Summer College is coordinated by Ecologic Institute of the European Union, which also has a representative office in the USA.
