On April 23–26 the Project partners from Association "North-Centre", Vodlozersky National Park, the Museum Kizhi, KarRC RAS and Biosphere reserve North Karelia (Finland) participated in a study tour to Finland. The tour programme was organized by the SYKLI Environmental School of Finland.
The tour started on April, 23 with the SYKLI experts training on the following topics: waste management system in Finland, waste collection and recycling, as well as the waste management in small municipalities and sparsely populated areas, biowaste as energy, and composting.
On the April, 24 the partners visited waste disposal station Riikinneva, environmentally friendly waste incineration plant Riikinvoima Oy and farm biogas plant Bioson Oy.
The Project partners meeting with Eeva Taimisto, Regional director of Finnish Keep the Archipelago Tidy Association, was held on April, 25. On the same day, the participants visited the Roop Association eco-station and ecological and cultural centre Riihisaari. In Parikkala municipality the partners got acquainted with the ecological path in the National Park Särkisalmi-Siikalahti.
During the excursion to the waste recycling station of the southern Finland region on April, 26 the Project partners discussed the methods of organic waste processing and information work in the municipalities.
As a result, the study tour participants highlighted its importance for the further Project activities implementation, namely for the solid and organic waste system development and environmental education.
