«Eco-efficient tourism» project representatives took part in the republic's specialized exhibition «Tourist Karelia - 2012» that was held on October 19 - 20, 2012. The project was presented on the stand of its partner - Pryazha municipal district - as one of the factors that determines tourist attractiveness of the district, and demonstrates active participation of both the district and the Republic of Karelia in the development of cross-border cooperation.
The visitors of the exhibition could not only learn all information about the district and the projects implemented there, but also try Pryazha cranberry, play and take pictures with pedigree dogs (husky and Chukotski Racing dog) that had been attracting lots of attention.
The organizers of the exhibition were Ministry of Youth Affairs, Physical Training, Sports and Tourism of the RK and Euroforum Exhibition Agency. This year the traditional tourist exhibition of the republic was devoted to country recreation and rural tourism. The main participants were recreation centers and guest houses, hotels and enterprises working in the sphere of rural tourism from Karelia, the Vologda area, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Finland. Karelian crafters has also presented their work at the exhibition and held different workshops for the visitors. Workshops on painting, embroidery, patchwork, and other arts and crafts could be found there.
Alexander Chazhengin, First Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia for Regional Policy, Irina Petelyaeva, Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Assembley of the Republic of Karelia, Alexander Voronov, Minister of Youth Affairs, Physical Training, Sports and Tourism, and Elena Gnetova, executive director of Euroforum Exhibition Agency, took part in the opening ceremony. Within the scope of the business program there were round table discussions concerning the development of country and rural tourism in regions of Russia, a seminar on theoretical basics of the rural tourism organization, a training for representatives of country accommodation facilities and guest houses, workshops and an advertising tour. During two days the participants had an excellent opportunity to exchange experience with representatives of different spheres of tourism, to strengthen relation with current partners and establish - with new ones.
